You’d be hard-pressed to find a better view of the water anywhere in D.C. than the panorama that surrounds East Potomac Golf Course. After all, it’s located on Hains Point Island, which sits in the pulsing heart of the river. The golf course isn’t the island’s only claim to fame, either! It hosts the earliest Cherry Blossom trees, which have become an iconic part of D.C.’s scenery.
Gather a few friends and head to the golf course to tee off, whether you have an hour to spare or an entire day. The pair of nine-hole courses are great for a quicker round, while the 18-hole, par-72 course will keep you entertained for several hours. If you only want to spend a lunch break here, head to the practice holes or the heated and covered driving range. It’s open rain or shine, and even into the twilight hours thanks to bright lighting. You can also bring youngsters to the mini-golf course, and then grab a bite to eat at The Potomac Grille. All the while, enjoy the stunning sights of the Potomac River and the D.C. skyline.
