Situated in the heart of the town square you’ll find an expansive space for fresh-air recreation this holiday season and beyond—the Rockville Outdoor Ice Skating Rink. The public rink usually opens at the end of November and continues to welcome guests through March, as long as the cold weather holds out.
True to its name, the rink is entirely outdoors and has plenty of space for guests to spread out. No need to BYO skates, either, as rentals are available for a small fee ($5). The rink is even open on holidays to keep your kiddos entertained after the last gift has been opened! Haven’t hit the ice in a while? Don’t worry. Rockville Outdoor Ice Skating Rink hosts its own skate school with lessons for adults and kids alike, and you can also book a private session if you want some one-on-one time with an expert instructor. Admission is $9 for kids and $10 for adults, with the rink open at noon on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. It’s open until 10 or 11 p.m., depending on the day.
